Write for us
Grand Theatre Review welcomes pitches that help curious readers see theatre with fresh attention. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the subject, angle and intended reader.
What we welcome
We consider essays on playwriting, performance, stagecraft, theatre history and interpretation. A strong piece may explain a theatrical choice, compare distinct approaches, clarify a convention or explore a well-defined question about how a performance works.
A useful pitch
Tell us the central idea in a few sentences, why it matters to a general theatre reader and what material or examples the piece would use. Include a working title and a brief outline of the proposed shape. Pitches should make a fresh, focused contribution rather than promise a sweeping account of theatre.
Writing with care
Use clear language and explain specialist terms when they first appear. Distinguish what can be observed from what you infer, and avoid unsupported claims about artists or audiences. Do not send confidential material or assume that a pitch has been accepted; we will consider proposals on their individual merits.
A play is more than its plot
Theatre happens through choices made in real time. We look at how those choices work together, offering curious theatregoers language for what they notice.
